Overflowing Drain? A Real Person Answers, Day or Night

Call (02) 9072 0710 right now and speak to a licensed plumber, not an answering machine. Sewage rising at 2am on Boxing Day gets the same answer as a Tuesday morning.

Until we arrive, turn the taps off and stop flushing. Anything more you send down that pipe comes back the way it came.

Move the kids and the dog away from whatever has surfaced, and leave the gully grate where it is.

Six Signs a Frenchs Forest Drain Is in Trouble

A drain almost always tells you before it gives up. Here is what each early warning means, and the move it calls for.

What you notice What it usually means What to do
The shower empties slower each week Something is narrowing the branch line Book a drain cleaning before it seals over
The toilet burps when a tap runs Air forcing back past a restriction in the main Ring us, these escalate quickly
Sewage smell drifting around outside A split pipe, or a gully trap gone dry Put a camera in the line
Water sitting in the gully grate The main has backed up as far as its relief point Stop using water, call straight away
The pan level lifts, then falls away The restriction is out in the main, not the toilet Diagnose it, do not guess at it
A bright green stripe on the lawn A split line watering the grass from below Book a blocked drain repair

Act on the first one and you get a clearing job instead of a clean-up.

Local knowledge

What Causes the Blockages We Clear in Frenchs Forest

Most of this suburb went up between the 1960s and the 1980s, and the sewer lines went in with it. That stock was laid in earthenware: short lengths of fired clay, joined every metre or so.

Those joints are the whole story. Earthenware does not rot, but it cracks, and every joint is a seam that opens a little as the ground moves under it.

Sorlie Road and Frenchs Forest Road East run straight through that build era. Those kitchens and bathrooms have been redone two or three times since, while the pipe under the lawn is the one the builder laid.

A hairline crack is enough. It weeps a bit of water, roots find it, and over a few seasons they thread in and mat up until the line closes over.

That is why a blockage here so often comes back. An eel punches through the root mass and the drain runs again, but the crack is still open and still leaking.

The shale and reactive clay in the ground does not help. It swells wet and shrinks dry, working those joints a fraction wider every year.

Newer pockets of the suburb tell a different story. The townhouses added around the town centre from the late 2010s run PVC in long welded lengths, so when they block it is almost always something someone put down them.

That is exactly why we look inside the pipe before quoting. A cracked joint wants a no-dig reline; a wad of wipes wants jetting. Same symptom, two completely different jobs.

How we work

Our Process Finds the Cause, Not Just the Clog

The same four steps run on a slow shower and on sewage across the lawn. None of them get skipped because a drain looks obvious from the outside.

  1. 01

A Real Person, Then a Real Price

Your call reaches a licensed plumber who asks what the drain has been doing. We arrive, look, and put a price in front of you to approve.

  2. 02

    Vision Before Anything Else

The camera goes in and finds the blockage, how deep it sits and what caused it. You see it live. Nobody here quotes off a hunch.

  3. 03

    Cleared With the Right Tool

Jetter for grease and silt, electric eel where the pipe suits one better. What we saw on screen picks the tool, not habit.

  4. 04

    Proof, Then Your Options

A second run of the camera puts the flowing pipe on screen for you. Where the footage found a cracked joint, we price the permanent fix on the spot.

Pricing Without the Nasty Surprise

Nobody can see through a pipe from a phone call, so we do not pretend to price one that way. We come out for nothing and work it out on site.

How far in it sits. A blockage a metre inside the gully is a very different afternoon to one out at the boundary shaft.

Whether we can get at it. An open inspection point is one thing. Working around a deck or a paved courtyard is another.

What is actually in there. Grease and silt jet straight out. A root mat wedged in a cracked joint asks a lot more of the gear.

Whether the pipe is worth saving. A sound line only needs clearing. A collapsed one needs relining, and the footage settles that before you commit to anything.

Where we work

Servicing Frenchs Forest, Northern Beaches and Surrounding Areas

These streets are our regular run, along with the rest of the Northern Beaches Council patch. That proximity is what makes a 30-minute guarantee possible.

In the community, for the community

In the Community, For the Community

This is a family-run business, 11+ years in now, and these suburbs are home turf rather than a shape drawn on a service map.

Plenty of what we do has nothing to do with pipes. Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney, Beyond Blue, Wayside Chapel and Pink Ribbon Day all get our backing, and you will find us at community events through the year.

None of that clears anybody's drain. It is simply how we would rather run things. More about our team.

Common questions

Blocked Drains Frenchs Forest FAQs

The six we field most often, answered straight. If yours is missing, (02) 9072 0710 will get you a plumber who can answer it.

Do you charge a call-out fee in Frenchs Forest?

Never. Turning up is free and so is the quote. A plumber finds out what is genuinely wrong with the drain, then gives you one figure to approve before any work happens.

What suburbs do you service around Frenchs Forest?

Forestville, Belrose, Davidson, Beacon Hill and Allambie Heights, plus the wider Northern Beaches. Those streets sit on our regular run, which is why we get there quickly.

Who is responsible for a blocked sewer, me or Sydney Water?

From the boundary shaft back to your house it is your line, and ours to clear. Sewage coming up out at the street, with neighbours copping it too, points to a Sydney Water mains fault instead.

Do you offer a 24/7 emergency blocked drain service?

Yes, every day of the year. Ring at 3am on a public holiday and a licensed plumber answers, then we roll.

How much does it cost to clear a blocked drain in Frenchs Forest?

That depends on what the footage shows, which is why we price it at your place instead of over the phone. Whatever you approve is what you pay, and booking online knocks $50 off.

Will the blockage just come back?

Not once the cause is dealt with rather than shoved further down the pipe. Where a cracked earthenware joint is to blame, we show you the vision and price a no-dig reline so next winter is not a repeat.
